EXPLORER PROGRAM

What is the Explorer program?

The Law Enforcement Exploring program is affiliated and founded by the Boy Scouts of America. Exploring is open to both young women and men, between the ages of 14-21, with an interest to pursue law enforcement or public safety as a career. The program serves as a pathway into the criminal justice or public sector field.

What do the Explorers do?

The Explorers learn about criminal law, train in patrol technique, compete annually in a statewide competition, as well as give back to the community by participating in charity events. The program is designed to instill responsibility and moral character into its members, thus volunteering their time to impact the community is the key element driving this program

Who supports the Explorer program?

The Explorer program has been self-sufficient and supported by the department's budget; however, receiving donations from the public and participating in fundraisers in order to purchase uniforms and equipment to help the Explorers train efficiently will be a new part of our program. Hopefully in the future, with the success of the program over the past few years, the Seneca Police Department will be able to budget monies to assist in increasing the uniform allowance and providing for more training equipment and competition fees.
